An easy question to answer, but one that can be quite difficult to explain to a child, is how many letters are in the English language. You may already know the answer. You just need to learn how to ask the right question. Let’s see what we mean by that.
Two kinds
The question, how many letters are in the alphabet, is really a question of definition. In order to make sure we’re getting close to the right answers, let’s assume for a moment that there are only two kinds of alphabets in English: the traditional alphabets and the newer punctuation marks. That left us with only four possible forms of the English alphabet. These include the nouns, adjectives, pronouns and verbs.
Let’s start with the verb. If we ask how many letters are in the word dog, the answer we get is, dog. If we replace the word with the item it refers to – beer – we get, how many letters are in the beer? And so on. For each of these questions we have a total number of words that can be found in the English language.
The problem is that the English language doesn’t allow us to express this way. One common way of expressing this question, which works reasonably well, is to give the exact answer, or rather, ask how many letters are in the alphabet when asked to solve the riddle. Unfortunately, this answer does not provide an easy solution. It’s too vague. If you ask someone to type in the answer and then give the total number of words in the alphabet, they are likely to give you the number sixteen or seventeen.
Pose question to your friends
This question “How many letters are in the alphabet” is an excellent one to pose to your friends and family members, or even to yourself. If you’re anything like me, finding the perfect riddle can take time and patience. After all, what’s the point of solving a riddle if it isn’t interesting?
The good news is that I’ve solved a number of these riddles myself. A few years ago I wrote a blog post about a game I played with my friends at a local bar. The game was called Social Media and we all spent a couple hours trying to solve the riddle. What I learned from this experience is that there are many riddles out there waiting for you.
I also realized that I had the wrong information several times before I could finally figure out how many were needed to complete the riddle. By having an answer beforehand, I was able to memorize the answer and eliminate the guesswork. After finding the answer to the riddle, most people would then have to answer a few more questions to get to the next step. This would keep everyone on their toes and make the game more exciting for everyone else. It ended up being a lot of fun for us.

If you’re looking for the answer to this riddle, be sure to look online first. You can find plenty of answers to the riddles you find on the Internet. And don’t worry; just about every site will give you an answer for free. That’s my favorite way to play any type of riddle – without paying!
Now, I’m not going to tell you to go out and try to solve the riddle yourself. Because it isn’t really very easy. But if you want to brush up on your English grammar or want to brush up on your math skills, it would be a good idea to do so while playing this game. As far as riddle, it doesn’t matter how you do the math. The only thing that matters is that you answer the question before you get to the next question so make sure you do!

There is even a “word search” function that you can use to find out the word you were looking for. All you do is input the riddle in their search box and it will spit back an answer that you can check out and see if it is correct.

And since it is a free site, you might as well take advantage of it!
